Archives

The archives contain extensive curatorial correspondence from 1910 to the present. The development of the Collection in the early 20th century is documented in some detail, especially correspondence with antiquities dealers in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. Also included are letters and other materials from leading scholars of the period in the fields of Assyriology and related disciplines, as well as from such organizations as the American Oriental Society, the American Schools of Oriental Research, and the Palestine Oriental Society. The archives are arranged by correspondent and are partially indexed, as in the sample provided here. All materials must be consulted on-site, by prior arrangement.
